I’m a Social Media idiot.
I used to think that Blogging was for narcissists.
I’m the Alaskan HR Chick who admitted on Drive ThruHR last year that I thought Twitter was a fad.
I started tweeting last September.
I started A Leading Perspective in January.
I plan to be Alaska’s social media expert (as it pertains to HR) in six months or less.
People change, sometimes because they want to and sometimes because they have to. In this case, I have adapted for both reasons. The details are about as boring as watching our snow melt but I will tell you this: I am determined to make a positive difference in the lives of Alaskans and the sustainability of our businesses. However, I can no longer expect to do it the way I always have.
Alaska is behind the times when it comes to using social media. Whether it is for marketing, recruitment, research, networking, etc., we need to catch up or our state, our industries and our professional workforce will be left behind.
That being said, I’m on a mission.
I am confident there are a few trendsetters in our state and I want to meet them. As a matter of fact, if you know them, hook me up! I’ll give them free bowls of Frozen Yogurt for a cup or two of their wisdom.
As I said earlier, I’m a social media idiot. I just joined Foursquare last week and while I have a Pinterest account, I don’t know why I created it nor do I know what to do with it.
But I can learn, and when I learn, I will teach.
